MADE IN AMERICA – ZERO MESS – NON-TOXIC SOIL-FREE – ORGANIC – AFFORDABLE – FRESH AND FUN!

The sad State of Food Today

Fresh, safe, and economical produce is NOT the grocery store norm. The average head of lettuce travels 1,500 miles from farm to plate.

Contaminated food recalls are on the rise – even for organic produce. The current trend is for over 140 recalls each month which is a 72% increase in total product recalls year after year.

For the last several years, securing fresh and safe food at the local grocer has become increasingly difficult. Empty shelves are more common than ever before. This indicates just how fragile our food supply chain really is.

Inflation is pushing up transportation costs which has increased the price of produce by more than 8%. According to the USDA, food prices are expected to continue to rise above historical average in 2023.

The good news is, there is a solution to the rising concerns over food freshness, safety, availability and increasing prices… and it is easy. So easy in fact that anyone, anywhere, anytime can do it! The Good Box microgreens grow kit is the answer.

Susan in the Garden

Hi There, Susan Here!

(aka – Earthen Mamma)

Master GardenerCertified Health CoachAuthorMamma of 3 adult kiddos

I’m a Master Gardener, Certified Health Coach, and author. I have been growing food and helping people live more sustainable and healthy lives for over 30 years.

Making fresh, safe, and healthy food accessible to all people no matter where they live or how much time they have is something I am very passionate about.

Now that my kids are grown and have gardens of their own, I have discovered ways to garden smarter, not harder.

One of my favorite “little” crops with BIG and lasting value is microgreens.

Microgreens are baby vegetable and herb greens that are harvested when they’re just a few inches tall. Because they’re harvested early on in their growth cycle, microgreens have a high concentration of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

The best part of all is that you can easily add this flavor-packed crop to your diet in the freshest and safest way possible – by growing your own indoors, 365 days a year no matter where you live, what the weather is like, or how much gardening experience you have. Anyone can do it!

Let me tell you more about why this is the #1 crop you should be growing right now and introduce you to the best microgreens grow kit on the market!

4 Reasons to Grow Microgreens

⇒ Microgreens contain valuable nutrients: Research conducted by the University of Maryland found that microgreens have 40 times the nutrients of “true leaves” on mature plants.

⇒ Microgreens grow quickly: Many microgreens grow from seed to harvest in under 7 days making these little plants the fastest growing crop ever.

⇒ Microgreens can be grown all year long indoors: Microgreens are an all year crop that can be grown 365 days a year indoors – no matter where you live or what the weather is like.

⇒ Growing microgreens is cost effective: Purchasing microgreens in the store will cost, on average, $3.75 an ounce. When you grow them yourself it will cost an average of $.60 an ounce. That is a MASSIVE savings!!

Nutrients in Microgreens:

  • Protective antioxidants
  • Vitamins
  • Minerals
  • Enzymes
  • And a variety of other powerhouse phytonutrients

Inroducing: The Good Box

Once I got hooked on microgreens, I constantly encouraged my clients, friends, family (and anyone who would listen) to eat them.

However, I soon learned that high-quality microgreens aren’t that easy to get your hands on.

Finding them at the grocery store can be difficult, and when you find a source, the greens are often expensive, packaged in plastic, and not consistently fresh.

My health coaching clients willing to try growing them were quickly discouraged due to the equipment needs, the mess, and the overall learning curve.

In the end, most of my clients gave up on microgreens.

The Good Box is a no-fail, American-made, non-toxic, soil-free microgreens grow kit that makes it EASY for anyone, anytime and anywhere to grow fresh, delicious, safe and affordable food.

“I used to take a handful of supplements in order to get all the nutrients my body needed until I started enjoying the goodness of microgreens. After purchasing them for years at my local grocer, I was introduced to The Good Box microgreens grow kit and was thrilled at just how easy and satisfying it was to actually grow my very own vitamins at home – right on my kitchen counter. Thank you for making such an amazing product that promotes health and wellness and combines it with the fun of growing! I love it!”

Microgreens Over Multivitamins

I tell people that growing microgreens is like growing your very own multivitamins right on your kitchen counter. When you get the nutrients you need from food, such as microgreens, your body understands what to do with it.

Supplementing with multivitamin pills is a popular pursuit but one that must be approached with caution. Many of the vitamins and supplements on the market are loaded with fillers, made with subpar ingredients and quite expensive.

Additionally, multivitamins contain high amounts of vitamins and minerals because the body does not absorb them well in supplement form. However, when you consume microgreens, the body knows exactly what to do with all of the goodness found in these plants.

A Toxin-Free Growing Experience Awaits You With This No-Fail Microgreens Grow Kit

Toxins are everywhere these days, in our food, the air we breathe, household products, makeup, skincare, etc.

And although we can’t avoid all chemical exposure, we must do our best to live a low-tox lifestyle.

One area where we can control our toxin exposure is our food—which also applies to growing microgreens.

If you grow your microgreens (or any type of food) in a toxic environment, such as a plastic or vinyl container, for example, those toxins like BPA, BPS, phthalates, etc., are absorbed into the food.

This defeats the entire purpose of growing healthy food!

Bottom line: the type of container or system you grow your microgreens in matters as much as the type of seeds and growing practices you use.

We took extra care to ensure a toxin-free and waste-free growing experience. This means that The Good Box does not include certain things.

Made Without

  • Plastic. Plastic can leach into your plants and is terrible for the planet.

  • GMOs. The GMO seed is a controversial, artificial invention that was never part of God’s natural plan.

  • Bamboo. Bamboo is considered sustainable; however, it is typically imported and very damaging to the environment. And since it’s grass, it must be glued together using potentially toxic adhesives. Besides, who wants to steal food from the pandas?

  • Disposable materials. The jute mats are made from biodegradable and compostable jute plant fiber. The food-grade grow tray, and solid wooden box will last forever with proper care. The only thing you’ll throw away is the little bag containing the pre-measured seeds.

5 Step NO-FAIL Microgreens

Even if you’ve failed at growing microgreens before, you can master this system on the first try…guaranteed.

Here’s how it works in just 5 easy steps:

No-fail

Step 1:

Run both sides of jute mate under water. Make sure it is saturated. It will turn a dark brown color and feel heavy.

no-fail

Step 2:

Scatter the seeds evenly over the mat and place the lid on the box. Keep an eye on the mat, don’t let it dry out.

no-fail

Step 3:

Once microgreens have sprouted (usually 3 days or so) take off the lid and set it under the grow box. Place box where it will get plenty of natural light.

no-fail

Step 4:

Check the mat daily and keep it wet. A light spray with the kitchen faucet works great. Rotate the box for even growth.

no-fail

Step 5:

Harvest in 4-7 days by snipping off at mat level with clean scissors. Wipe the tray off with a clean cloth, and get ready to grow some more!

Just like that

You are done in 5 simple steps.

Now, wasn’t that easy?

It’s time to enjoy your delicious greens and start another tray!

Wondering how to use your microgreens?

Microgreens are the perfect addition to (almost) any meal. They provide crunch, color, and texture, taste great, and keep you healthy.

Toss them in soups, on salads, sandwiches, smoothies, egg dishes, and more…. There are countless ways to enjoy these young greens!

Radish Microgreens For Great Health

“Chronic diseases are a major health problem in the United States. Accumulated data suggest that the consumption of vegetables can significantly reduce the risk of many chronic diseases. Dietary guidelines for 2015–2020 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommend 1–4 cups of vegetables per day for males and 1–3 cups of vegetables per day for females, depending on their age. However, the average intake of vegetables is below the recommended levels. Microgreens are young vegetable greens. Although they are small, microgreens have delicate textures, distinctive flavors, and various nutrients. In general, microgreens contain greater amounts of nutrients and health-promoting micronutrients than their mature counterparts. Because microgreens are rich in nutrients, smaller amounts may provide similar nutritional effects compared to larger quantities of mature vegetables.” – Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry

Yes, seeds that contain gluten, such as barley and wheat, are gluten-free at the microgreen stage.

Because many microgreen types have high vitamin K levels, large quantities may cause issues for people taking blood thinner medication. If you take this medication, speak with your doctor before enjoying microgreens.

Yes. Microgreens thrive in 4 hours (not hot) of direct sunlight or 6-8 hours of indirect sunlight. However, they also do great, after sprouting, with an LED grow light set to 12 hours per day.

No. Micgroreens only need sunlight and water as they contain all they need to sprout, grow and survive.

Root hair, also called cilia, is a natural structure of the root that helps to increase surface area and reaches into the water. Sometimes it can be hard to tell the difference between mold and root hair. Here are some things to look for:

  • Root hairs are fuzzy; mold is like a spider web
  • Root hairs are not slimy; mold is
  • Root hairs have no odor; mold smells musty
  • Root hairs will disappear after rinsing and come back in a few hours; mold does not disappear after rinsing
  • Root hair is found on the root part; mold is located above the soil levels or between microgreens.
Microgreens like to rest on each other while growing; check that you have sown seeds densely enough. It might also be past time to harvest.
Microgreens that are weak and leggy may have spent too long in the dark or not gotten enough light. Yellow microgreens are expected in the blackout period since the chlorophyll in the leaves has not carried out photosynthesis. When micros are placed in the light, they will turn green.

The jute grow mat must remain wet but not soaking throughout the growing period. Do not let the mat dry out at any time. You can also spritz microgreens with a mister for additional moisture.
